About Us
Our aim is to showcase the accordion across all its forms and musical genres. While we primarily focus on classical music, our repertoire also features modern accordion works, Balkan music, Argentine tango, and minimalist compositions.
Founded in 2017, our trio has quickly gained recognition among both the general public and professionals in the Czech Republic and beyond.
Notable achievements include receiving an award from the Danish Music Fund, a major tour in Brazil, and ongoing collaboration with the Jedlička Institute Foundation.
Marie Čejnová
Marie is a laureate of numerous national and international competitions in the USA, Korea, Germany, and more. She currently teaches accordion at the Pilsen Conservatory and the Ilji Hurník Academy of Music in Prague, while also pursuing her postgraduate studies at the National Danish Academy of Music.
Marie, what does the Check Accordion Trio mean to you?
An endless and beautiful journey. We have known each other for a long time, our relationship continues to evolve with new compositions and more concerts, but the essence remains! Music, accordion, and passion.
Michal Čejna Karban
Michal is an accordion enthusiast and a loves a good music. He has played the accordion his entire life, studying at both the conservatory and the music academy. He applies his extensive accordion knowledge and experience at Akordeony s.r.o. and is also active in music management (Plzeň Philharmonic, Smetana Days Festival, and the Kutná Hora Accordion Week). He can perform everything from Bach to Vlach on the accordion.
Michal, what does the Check Accordion Trio mean to you?
It’s about sharing the joy of music with friends while maintaining professionalism. Marie, Markéta, and I have known each other for a long time, and our relationships remain strong thanks to our passion. We have clearly defined roles in the trio, and each of us performs at the highest professional level. I’m grateful for that!
Markéta Laštovičková
Markéta is a well-known figure in the accordion community, recognized as the composer of many works beyond just accordion music. Her acclaimed Accordion books Simply Happy stand out as her greatest compositional achievement.
As a top soloist, Markéta’s impressive accomplishments include a solo recital at the prestigious Prague Spring International Festival.
Markéta, what does the Check Accordion Trio mean to you?
When I was young, my mom always told me to create music with love and joy. Now that I’m older, I can truly say that thanks to the Check Accordion Trio, I genuinely love and enjoy making music. This experience is further enriched by our strong friendship, and I’m grateful to be part of this musical family.
